Meet The Artist
ABOUT SAM
Tattoo Artist • Co-Owner of Wild Horses Tattoo • Founder of Tattoos for Tails (Registered Non-Profit Charity)
Hi, I’m Sam, a tattoo artist based in Boorloo (Perth) and one half of Wild Horses Tattoo, the private studio I co-own with my partner Jake. We opened Wild Horses in December 2024 with a dream of creating a calm, safe, welcoming space where clients feel truly cared for.
Tattooing is incredibly personal, and our studio was designed to honour that.
I’ve been tattooing for 6 years, and my work is split between two styles that I adore equally.
On @sunspirittattoo, you’ll find my larger pieces: mandalas, geometric designs and dot work ranging from soft and dainty to bold and architectural. My mandalas are inspired by floral shapes, henna patterns and symmetry that feels grounding and timeless.
On @moonspirittattoo, you’ll see the softer side of my heart: fine line designs, delicate script, tiny florals and sentimental pieces that often honour a person, pet or moment in someone’s life. I love how fine line tattoos can be stacked and layered while still appearing airy and gentle.
Both sides of my art reflect who I am: thoughtful, detail-driven and deeply inspired by the people and stories who sit in my chair.
My Philosophy as an Artist
More than anything, I want you to feel safe, heard, comfortable, empowered and warmly held throughout the entire tattoo process.
I began tattooing because I wanted to create art, but I also wanted human connection.
My favourite moments are when a tattoo becomes
- a memory
- a milestone
- an act of self-love
- a piece of healing
- a tribute to someone or somepet deeply loved
My art exists to make people feel something — lighter, braver, more themselves.
Whether your tattoo is tiny and meaningful or a larger decorative piece, I approach every session with intention, kindness and care.
Wild Horses Tattoo
In late 2024, Jake and I opened Wild Horses Tattoo in Walyalup (East Fremantle). It’s a private, appointment-only studio built on warmth, creativity and comfort.
Jake and I have been together for five years and he is my rock. We also have a puppy named Cordelia (Cordi), the real CEO and princess.
Tattoos for Tails
Fundraising for animals in need through tattoos.
In early 2024, I started Tattoos for Tails, now a registered non-profit charity supporting animal rescues across Western Australia.
At the time, I didn’t have hours to volunteer, but I did have my craft. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful art can be when it’s paired with community. People are more likely to donate when the cause means something to them, and my clients are some of the biggest pet lovers I know. Tattoos bring people together, destigmatise the industry and give everyone something meaningful in return.
Tattoos for Tails began as a solo project, and in mid 2025 Jake and Hayden joined the team as the initiative rapidly grew.
So far we have
- hosted five charity tattoo fundraisers
- launched the Tattoos for Tails Volume 1 colouring book
- released Christmas cards in collaboration with Life Life Australia
- raised thousands for rescue organisations
- been featured on ABC News and Perth Now
A dedicated website is currently being built.
